In the name of Allah, in all things, beginning and end.
The Muslim Students’ Association started at the University of Alberta in 1982 to satisfy the spiritual, material, and social needs of students on campus in accordance with the teachings of Islam.
The MSA was founded upon the ethos of establishing unity and brotherhood between Muslims on campus and in the wider community, and indeed between all students. Members uphold this spirit through righteous deeds, enjoining the good, and preventing harm.
The group’s aim is to actively engage Muslims and non-Muslims through dissemination of information, prayers, social functions, and other activities, as a means of assisting and educating students and promoting dialogue, discussion, and awareness on campus.
The MSA’s vision for the 2011/2012 academic year is to focus on the following: a) active engagement, b) brotherhood and sisterhood, c) seeking knowledge, and d) dawah.
In the Islamic spirit of ihsan and continual improvement, we encourage you to contact any of the executives with suggestions or questions you may have. We host General Assembly meetings once a month, which all students are welcome to attend, to improve communication between the general Muslim student body and the execs. This is your organisation, and we hope you actively participate in helping us make the Muslim and and greater campus community thrive.
