MSA End of Semester Game Night!

Assalamaoalaikum Everyone!

Finished exams? Want to chill out with your fellow muslims on campus? Come on down to the Muslim Student’s Association’s Game Night this January 6, 2012! Backed by popular demand, this event is open to ANYONE and EVERYONE =)

CAB rooms 229, 235, 239, and in 243 have been booked for this evening event. No cost to attend and food will be sold at a reasonable price!

This event is for brothers AND sisters!

We will insha’Allah have all three primary consoles (Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii) in the brother’s rooms and board games in the sisters rooms. You’re all welcome to bring any games, food, etc you wish!

We look forward to ending a great semester and the beginning of a new one here at the University of Alberta =D

Sisters Eid Potluck!!

What a better way to celebrate Eid than with food and good company?

The MSA Sisters will be hosting a Eid potluck on campus on Thursday November 17th, 2011.

As this is a potluck, I ask each and every one of you to please specify what you will be bringing in order to avoid getting 10 of the same dish. ;)

Boyle Street Luncheon for the Homeless

Assalamu alaikum,

The Muslim Student Association (MSA) of the University of Alberta in conjunction with Islamic Family and Social Services Association (IFSSA) & Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) are organizing a “Serve the homeless” event where Halal Roast Beef Lunch is going to be served at the Boyle Street Homeless Shelter.

The MSA is calling for volunteers from all heritages and legacies to join the Muslims in this event and to contribute to the bigger community of the city of Edmonton.

The lunch will be served on November 13th, 2011, yet the cooking will be taking place for the two days that precede the event (i.e. 11th and 12th), you have one of the THREE days to volunteer.

Here are the times:

Friday

9 am – 12 noon (4 spots)

Saturday

1 pm – 4 pm ( 6 spots)

Sunday

8 am – 11 am (14 spots)

11 am – 2 pm (18 spots)

2 pm – 5 pm (16 spots)

Please follow the following steps if you would like to volunteer

1) Fill out the IFSSA Volunteer form at the link listed below

Dawah Booth

Do you like talking to others about Islam?

Are you sociable and approachable?

If yes, then the Da’wah team is for you!

Take up the opportunity to go through Da’wah training sessions. And once you’re done, practice what you learn at the weekly booth.

So ask yourself: do you have what it takes to be a Da’ee? Are you willing to commit to spreading the word of Islam?

While Others Sleep: Striving for a Night of Mercy

MSA & MAC Youth would like you to join us at our monthly Qiyam on Saturday, January 28th @ MCE inshAllah the qiyam will start after isha with a Lecture by Br. Amro Osman about How to Live for Islam. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A session where Br. Amro will be happy to answer all your questions and we will end the night with a tahajjud prayer.

REFRESHMENTS WILL BE PROVIDED inshAllah.
